Distribution of Enhancer for YouTube for Firefox on AMO has been stopped — GG, Mozilla!
Once again, YouTube has rolled out new UI changes that have broken the extension. After much thought, I’ve made the difficult decision to stop releasing new versions for Firefox.
Why? Because the current system on AMO makes it impossible to maintain the extension at the pace needed to keep it running smoothly. The developer experience has become frustrating, and the slow, unpredictable review process for each update kills all my efforts to fix bugs quickly. Until this situation improves, there won’t be any new Firefox versions.
However, for those of you who haven’t yet been hit by YouTube’s latest UI changes, and those of you who never had any issue with the latest version, you can find the official package here if you need to reinstall it on Firefox: enhancer_for_youtube-2.0.130.1.xpi
For your security, I highly recommend you to never install another package! This one has been signed by Mozilla and is completely safe to use.
A note for the conspiracy theorists…
Ever since I pulled the Firefox version, I’ve seen some absolute nonsense floating around — courtesy of a few tinfoil-hat clowns spreading their usual garbage. According to them, Mozilla supposedly banned my add-on because I was “doing shady stuff.” Yeah, sure.
Let me make this perfectly clear: as the screenshots below show, I disabled the add-on myself. It hasn’t been removed from AMO — it’s simply set to invisible. Mozilla didn’t take any action against it. In fact, the Mozilla Add-ons team was fully aware this would happen; I told them months in advance that I’d take it down once YouTube inevitably broke things again.
So, to all the “experts” out there — relax, close Reddit for a bit, and before posting your next “truth” about me and my extension, maybe take five minutes to check your facts… or at least learn how publishing an extension on AMO actually works.
Want to report a bug in version 3.0?
Create and attach the debug info.txt file to your message.
In any case, explain how to reproduce the bug step by step and attach screenshots if possible!
My extension is only for Chrome and Edge now. If you are using Firefox, Brave, Opera, or anything else, do not contact me to report issues as I don't provide support for those browsers...
